Saraswathi Puja - Jan 2007

Puja of Saraswati Mata, the Goddess of all wisdom and atymagyan (knowledge of the Self) was performed with great enthusiasm and devotion at The Hindu Samaj Temple. The Puja was conducted by Shri Jagannadachari. As he clearly spelled out the Mantras extolling the virtues of Ma Saraswati, devotees from all sections of the community crossing religious boundaries repeated them in unison. Chanting of Ma Saraswatis shlokas, prayer with flower offerings (Pushpanjali) and Aarati by the devotees made the atmosphere divine.
Following the Puja and partaking of prasadam and delicious lunch, the devotees joined hands to pray to Saraswati Mata with Sangeet, Dance and Poems. The Temple air was filled with vibrations of melodious voices, sounds of complex dance talams and bols (steps/rhythms).

Thanks to the participation by several children, the cultural Program was a great success. Finally, every one departed happily with blissful joy. January (27th) 2007 Saraswati Puja was sponsored by several families... However, special thanks to the Bengali Community who took the major responsibilities for organizing the puja, making delicious prasdam and lunch and special prayer through cultural events.

Dev Mukhopadhyay reports on the first montly pooja of 2007

January (20th) 2007 Monthly Puja was sponsored by Durga and Santhi Swaroop Vege, Yamini and Gowrishankar Radhakrishnan, Veena and Murali Iyer, Sumi and Sanal Kumar, Pratibha and Sridhar Dwarakanath, Anuradha and Rajesh Mishra, Daksha and Naresh Chhugani.

Puja was performed with great enthusiasm and devotion at The Hindu Samaj Temple. It began with a prayer to MaDurga (Ayigiri nandini) led by Lalitha Sahasranamam Group followed by the group chanting. Later, Shlokas were chanted by sweet voices of Balagokulam kids (Sanjivini Suresh, Ghanashyam Unnikrishnan, Sachchit Murali, Abhishek Chandra , Sahil Chhugani ). Malabika Bhattacharya sang wonderful Bhajans followed by a well-documented and informative slide show on Swami Vivekananda’s life by Kalyan Bhattacharyya. Temple update was given by Suresh Chari, our President. Again, few melodious Bhajans filled the temple with an amicable atmosphere and Aarti illuminated the minds of all devotees. Finally, with the offering of prasadam & wonderful dinner, every one departed happily with a great start of our Monthly Puja 2007.
